About The Creator Of Parc Guell, Antoni Gaudi

Parc Guell Barcelona

Antoni Gaudí was born on the 25th of June in 1852 in Reus, an area to the south of Catalonia. He is regarded as one of the greatest architects of Catalan Modernism.

His structures are noted for the incorporation of nature-inspired structural solutions as well as for their deep religious symbolism.

Gaudí's buildings are characterized by their simplicity, elegance and openness to the elements. With his style, Gaudí set a new standard for the architecture of that period.

Some of his most iconic buildings in Barcelona include the Sagrada Familiar, Casa Mila ( La Pedrera ), Casa Batllo and Pacrc Guell along with other well-known buildings such as the Palau de la Música and the Torre Bellesguard.

Astonishingly, on the 7th of June 1926, Antoni Gaudi was knocked down by a tram whilst working close to the Sagrada Familia church. He suffered a concussion and several broken ribs. Sadly, he died of his injuries just a few days later and was buried in the Chapel of Carmen, in the crypt of the Sagrada Familia.
