Cabopino Golf

The Cabopino golf course is located between Fuengirola and Marbella opposite the beautiful marina where the club gets its name from – Puerto Cabopino.

Cabopino golf was inaugurated in April 2001 and offers an 18 hole – Par 71 course designed by Spanish architect Juan Ligues. He made good use of the contours, also leaving intact hundreds of existing pine trees that have grown in the area long before the course arrived.  Cabopino Golf has become of the best value courses on the Costa del Sol and a popular choice when it comes to including a round here when customising golf packages to Marbella.

Cabopino Golf offers a unique and enjoyable golfing experience. While the course is quite tight in certain areas and relatively short, it doesn't pose an excessively challenging layout. However, if you tend to be an errant hitter, be prepared to lose a significant number of balls during your round. Thoughtful and patient play will be rewarded on this course, which serves as a good test of your golfing skills.

The greens at Cabopino Golf are mostly large and captivating, each with its own distinct characteristics. This provides an interesting challenge for golfers of all handicaps. The course consists of three par-3s, two par-5s, and thirteen par-4s.

The first two par-4 holes serve as solid warm-up holes without offering anything particularly remarkable. However, it's on the extraordinary third hole that the course truly comes to life. With its tee box situated around 200 meters above the fairway and green below, this hole is a spectacle that will leave a lasting impression. The narrow fairway is nestled between two hilly slopes, and the green is guarded by a large bunker at the front, accompanied by an old olive tree strategically placed to protect the elevated green.

The fifth hole presents the greatest challenge on the course, despite its modest length of 378 meters. A straight and accurate drive is crucial here, as the entire right side is out of bounds. The second shot must skillfully navigate through a tight gap to reach the open clearing where the green is situated. A bold and well-executed drive on this hole will yield satisfying results.

Remarkably, it isn't until the 12th hole that you'll encounter the first par-5. This intriguing hole requires a well-struck uphill drive to position yourself favorably for the second shot, which needs to carry over a lake. An accurate approach shot is then necessary to navigate the well-placed bunkers and pine trees surrounding the green if you wish to achieve par.

One of the most picturesque holes on the course is the par-3 13th. It features an elevated tee that leads down to a green guarded by a large lake on the right side, with a challenging section in the front that demands careful consideration for your tee shot.

The clubhouse, situated atop a hill, offers a splendid view of the course and the sea. It boasts a delightful restaurant where you can enjoy excellent lunch options and beverages at reasonable prices.
