Course information

One of the most established golf courses in the Costa del Sol, the Guadalmina Golf Course consists of two different courses : Guadalmina Sur (south course) and Guadalmina Norte (north course).

Both courses were renovated by Global Golf in 2002.

The Guadalmina Sur ( South Course ) is generally regarded as the better of the two courses and can be quite tough in places, so the higher handicappers in particular will enjoy the challenge. However the Guadalmina South course is undeniably one of the best courses you can play on the Costa del Sol and if you can find the extra Euros for a round here you will not leave disappointed. It oozes class from the first to the last hole and is a real joy to play.

The parkland design is quite special with quality fairways and greens that will make you work for your par. This course has some stunning holes as it flows around the upmarket Guadalmina urbanisation. One of the signature holes is the stunning Par 3 Hole 11.

It is in a breathtaking location on the edge of the sea with the Rock of Gibraltar as a stunning backdrop, anything goes from a six iron to a hybrid straight !, depending on wind direction on the day !!

The fairways are well protected by old well established trees so straight shots are required to bypass them and line yourself up for the all important second shot.

The North course is shorter and hillier than the south and has more water obstacles. It is comparatively easier then the South although it is characterised by a slightly more hilly terrain in places. The course meanders around quite a lot of properties which are quite close to the course in places and can be off putting , so if you are looking for a more natural quiet country course this is not for you.

Having said that take away the properties and the course layout is interesting and well maintained.

The north course requires straight drives down the middle of the fairways as failure to do so may have one ending up in one of the numerous water hazards hidden in the rough.

There is a nice par 3. 9 hole pitch and putt course for practising your short game.

Guadalmina has a very good sized membership base along with its own hotel on site so it is advised to book your tee times early.
