Let’s start with the obvious—Benidorm’s beaches are legendary. The two main ones, Levante Beach and Poniente Beach, are like the city’s twin jewels. Levante is the livelier of the two, with its bustling promenade, beach bars, and water sports. I love grabbing a sunbed here, ordering a cold drink, and just watching the world go by.
Poniente, on the other hand, is a bit more laid-back. It’s perfect for a peaceful stroll or a quiet afternoon with a good book. If you’re after something a little more secluded, head to Cala Tío Ximo, a small cove tucked away between the cliffs. It’s a hidden gem that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle.
2. Take in the Views from Benidorm’s Viewpoints
Benidorm is surrounded by hills, and the views from the top are nothing short of spectacular. My favourite spot is the Balcon del Mediterraneo, a viewpoint at the end of Levante Beach. Standing here, with the sea stretching out before you and the city skyline behind, is pure magic. It’s especially beautiful at sunset—trust me, you’ll want your camera ready.
Another great option is the Mirador del Castillo, located in the old town. It’s a bit of a climb, but the panoramic views of the coastline are worth every step. I like to grab a coffee from a nearby café and just sit there, taking it all in.
3. Explore Benidorm’s Old Town
Benidorm’s old town, or Casco Antiguo, is a charming maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and colourful flower pots. It’s a world away from the modern skyscrapers of the new town, and I always find myself wandering back here.
One of my favourite spots is the Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana, a beautiful 18th-century church that sits on a hill overlooking the sea. The square in front of the church is a great place to relax and soak up the atmosphere. And if you’re a fan of markets, don’t miss the Benidorm Flea Market (held on Wednesdays). It’s a treasure trove of antiques, clothes, and local crafts.
4. Dive into Benidorm’s Food Scene
If there’s one thing I love about Benidorm, it’s the food. The city is packed with fantastic restaurants, tapas bars, and chiringuitos (beach bars). One of my go-to spots is Restaurante El Mesón, a cosy little place in the old town that serves up some of the best paella I’ve ever tasted. The seafood is fresh, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
For something a bit different, head to La Cava Aragonesa, a tapas bar that specialises in dishes from the Aragón region. The croquetas and patatas bravas are to die for, and the wine list is excellent.
And if you’re after a sweet treat, make sure to stop by Heladeria Delicias, a family-run ice cream shop that’s been serving up delicious homemade ice cream for over 30 years. The pistachio flavour is my personal favourite.
5. Experience Benidorm’s Nightlife
Benidorm is famous for its nightlife, and for good reason. Whether you’re into live music, karaoke, or dancing until dawn, there’s something here for everyone. My favourite spot is The Square, a lively area packed with bars and clubs. It’s the perfect place to start your night, with a cocktail in hand and music in the air.
For something a bit more low-key, head to The Robin Hood Pub, a British-style pub that’s always good for a laugh. They have live music most nights, and the atmosphere is always friendly and fun.
6. Visit Terra Mítica and Terra Natura

If you’re travelling with kids (or just a big kid at heart), you can’t miss Terra Mítica, a theme park that brings the ancient world to life. From roller coasters to water rides, there’s something here for everyone. My personal favourite is the Titanide, a water ride that’s guaranteed to get you soaked.
Right next door is Terra Natura, a wildlife park that’s home to over 1,500 animals. I love the fact that the enclosures are designed to mimic the animals’ natural habitats, so it feels like you’re walking through a jungle or savannah. The elephant enclosure is particularly impressive.
7. Take a Day Trip to Altea or Guadalest
While Benidorm has plenty to keep you busy, it’s also a great base for exploring the surrounding area. One of my favourite day trips is to Altea, a picturesque town just 20 minutes away. With its cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and stunning views of the sea, it’s like something out of a postcard.
Another great option is Guadalest, a medieval village perched high in the mountains. The drive up is a bit hair-raising, but the views from the top are worth it. Don’t miss the Castle of San José, which offers panoramic views of the valley below.
8. Relax at Mundomar
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll adore Mundomar, a marine and exotic animal park that’s home to dolphins, sea lions, and parrots. I’ve been here several times, and I always leave with a big smile on my face. The dolphin show is a must-see—it’s both entertaining and educational.
9. Try Your Luck at Casino Mediterraneo
Feeling lucky? Head to Casino Mediterráneo, Benidorm’s only casino. Even if you’re not a gambler, it’s worth a visit for the glamorous atmosphere and live entertainment. I like to grab a drink at the bar and watch the roulette tables—it’s like being in a James Bond movie.
10. Enjoy a Sunset Cruise
One of the most magical experiences in Benidorm is a sunset cruise along the coast. I’ve done this a few times, and it never gets old. There’s something incredibly peaceful about being out on the water, with the sun setting behind the mountains and the city lights twinkling in the distance.
Most cruises include a drink or two, and some even offer dinner. It’s the perfect way to end a day in Benidorm.
Have Fun at Aqualandia Water Park
Aqualandia, the largest water park, also resides in Benidorm! The waterpark provides welcome relief from the heat and offers an overwhelming array of exciting and action-packed water slides and pools.
Marine and Animal Park Mundomar is right next to Aqualandia and offers yet another wonderfully unique day out.
The park is home to many cute and quirky animal species and offers extra-special experiences, including up-close-and-personal encounters with dolphins and sea lions.
Go Crazy at the Terra Mitica Theme Park
One of Spain’s best theme parks, the ever-popular Terra Mitica, is just a short drive from Benidorm. With its five themed areas and a multitude of rides and other activities, it is a must-do when in this area.
Unsurprisingly, Terra Mitica, Spain’s most prominent and wildest theme park, is at home in Benidorm and caters for all ages, offering a range of thrill rides for adrenaline junkies and gentler rides for younger children, making it great for families, teens, couples or groups.
Explore the Serra Gelada Nature Park
Designated a natural park in 2005, this expansive area of greenery sharply contrasts the concrete of the area's resorts. With its fascinating flora and fauna, this destination is the perfect antidote to Benidorm's craziness.
Visit Peacock Island
A 10-minute boat ride will get you to the mysterious rock you can see looming offshore called Peacock Island.
See the birds, walk around the island, and enjoy looking back over Benidorm's shimmering high-rise skyline. You can also take a fascinating journey beneath the seas in the Aquascope vision submarine to discover the underwater sea life.
Explore the Rock of Ifach
Also recommended is a boat ride along the coast to Calpe, which lies in the shadow of the majestic Peñon de Ifach, an impressive large rock jutting out to see off the Calpe Coastline. It has been declared a National Park since 1987; the rock is home to over 300 species of flora.
You can also climb to the top, following the winding pathway, where you will be rewarded with spectacular views over the beautiful town of Calpe.
Stroll Around the Old Town
Benidorm Old Town is a charming area that seems a world away from the bustling hotel district and modern skyscrapers.
It is a perfect place to enjoy an early evening stroll as you wander through its winding streets. A few nice local attractions are the charming blue-domed church of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
Several small museums are also located in the region, including the Casa Museo de Benidorm, which showcases the region's history and culture.
