Rio Real Golf

Rio Real Golf Marbella was designed by renowned golf course architect Javier Arana. The course opened in 1965 and has become one of the courses of reference on the Costa del Sol.

An old favourite of many regular golfers on the Costa del Sol, the Rio Real golf course provides a good test for all handicappers and the open wide fairways mean you can usually find your ball if it strays either way.

The mature setting with many palm trees and plants gives it a truly Mediterranean feel. The course's signature hole is the long par-4 - 4th with its impressive sea views. From the 4th tee check out the position of the 5th green to your left as it is blind shot from your approach up the 5th fairway.

The two most difficult holes on the Rio Real golf course are 8th and 10th. The 8th requires two really accurate long shots to reach the green and the 10th is a blind 90-degree dogleg.

A good hole to use for the longest drive is the 13th with the 14th Par 3 for nearest to the pin (though all the par 3’s are pretty short). The course is one of the more walkable tracks, there are several water fountains on the course and a drinks buggy.

The Hotel Rio Real is for players wishing to stay near the golf course whilst close to the beaches of Marbella center and many other top golf courses along the Costa del Sol.
