The Malaga airport ( Aeropuerto de San Julian ) is currently ranked 4th in Spain
handling over 13 Million passengers in 2006 and increase of 3.5% on
the previous year.
It is easy to understand why this airport is so busy at it feeds the whole of the Costa del Sol and although it had a major facelift only some 10 years ago to improve the overall facilities the increased growth of air passenger traffic over the last 10 years has probably taken most people by surprise not least the city planners. However
41 Million Euros have now been set aside to improve the infrastructure so there is quite a lot
of building going on around the area so please take this into account when planning your return trip.
There are currently 80 check-in desks which keep waiting times to a minimum and 56 boarding gates.
You will also find a reasonable selection of shops and cafeterias on the first floor and around the boarding gates
on the ground floors.
