Enjoy Mijas golf holidays on the Costa del Sol
The Mijas Golf Resort is home to two popular parkland golf courses, The resort is situated within the golf valley Mijas, north of Fuengirola, only twenty minutes from the Malaga international airport and Marbella.
Los Lagos opened in 1976 and offers wide open fairways, large raised greens and more than a sprinkling of bunkers, it has a very open feeling and always thought of as one the easiest courses on the coast hence its overwhelming popularity.
Los Lagos underwent a major facelift in 2012 thanks to a multi million euro make over which saw the course practically rebuilt from the drainage upwards. It re opened in January 2013 and should be a superb course to play in the coming years, who knows it might even regain its former glory as on the coasts most popular golfing destinations, time will tell.
Los Olivos was constructed originally between 1983-1984, although it has recently been totally refurbished (2000-2001). This course lies in a smaller peace of land, and has different characteristics to his brother.
The greens are smaller with undulations and well protected by bunkers. Also, it has a large number of olive trees strategically situated around the fairways, which demand a strong and straight drive from the player.
The Mijas golf club house is an old Andalusian cortijo (farmhouse), and beside it, one can feel the continual buzz on the terraces of the Restaurant, a great place to relax and share an after round drink with friends.
The Hotel Tamisa is ideally located opposite the Mijas Golf Club and just 10 minutes drive from Fuengirola. The hotel has become very popular with visiting golfers due to its excellent service, great location and tranquil surroundings.
The hotel offers 24 comfortable rooms and is built on two floors with subtropical gardens, a beautiful sun terrace pool areas and wonderful views over the Mijas golf courses. A free golf shuttle service is also available at the hotel.
