Benalmadena lies some 19 kms west of Malaga airport and the capital, and sits between Fuengirola and Torremolinos
and now has a population of around 45.000.
From most parts of upper Benalmedana , specially the picturesque Pueblo area, you have fantastic views to sea and mountains
which has encouraged a rapid growth in holiday homes and investors from around the world with the British citizens
being the biggest buyers over the last 5 years.
During the summer months the population can grow up to 100.000 with visitors from all over the globe enjoying this hugely
popular and vibrant tourist area.
Benalmadena is split up into three main areas which are:
Benalmádena Pueblo
(The old village)
The old village has still mainatined some its oldey worldy charm despite the large numbers of vistors and new constructions that have grown up near the Village.
It is still possible, even in mid summer, to walk around the old part of the village for a peacefull meander to discover some very quaint and freindly
tapas bars and inexspensive restaurants.
Arroyo de la Miel
The busy commercial town centre separating the village on the hill from the sea front. Arroyo has grown rapidly, due greatly to the excellent train service running between Fuengirola and Malaga, as well as good road connection.
Benalmádena Costa
The coastal part is where you can find a wide ranging variety of activities and nightlife for all the family. The fantastic award winning Benalmadena Marina
is one of the most amazing port and residential developments in the world. It has a unique architectural style which is a blend of moorish, Spanish and modern
designs and the installations are second to none.
It has been awarded the prize as the ‘best marina in the world’ on two occasions, and since 1987 it has had the European blue flag due to the quality of its services and water. It has 1,100 mooring places and offers a wide variety of activities and events, thanks to its facilities and the privileged climate of the Costa del Sol.
Benalmadena has more than 8km of blue flag beaches some of which are in small coves and often have rocks at each end. The sand is not as fine as some of the other resorts but a lot of work is done to maintain the cleanliness of all of the beaches. There are sun loungers and shades available for rent all the way along the front.
Other excellent facilities well worth visiting are:
The Aquarium situated within the Port area.
The Chair Lift Situated in front of Tivoli World - Fantastic panoramic views over the Coast of Malaga.
Tivoli WorldA huge theme park situated in Arroyo de la Miel ( the local train service has a stop nearby )
